'Digging' - Seamus Heaney

'Digging' - Seamus Heaney

"between my finger and my thumb the squat pen rests. I'll dig with it"

Words in Porcelain.

'Digging' is a very personal, poignant and poetic declaration by Seamus Heaney - the son of the farmer who is no longer tied to the land and the spade but will instead use the pen to dig his way into life, writing poetry. This poem effectively launched Seamus Heaney into the Poetry world and as he noted, ''Digging’, in fact, was the name of the first poem I wrote where I thought my feelings had got into words..'

Framed in 10x15cm white box frame. Please let me know if you would like any small inscription written under the tile, within the frame.
